Albion Sports boss Kulwinder Sandhu is not prone to public outbursts but he was left fuming by a decision on Wednesday night.

Sandhu prefers the softly, softly approach and is far too calculating to be angered or upset by something he or his team have no control over.

He will question his own decisions in post-match interviews, and be frank about his players if he feels they have cost the club a point or even a goal, but he rarely comments about a bad call.

Yet he was livid when goalkeeper Aaron Brian was shown a red card in the first half of Albion’s midweek home game against Barton Town, which finished 1-1.

Sandhu said: “We had to play more than 50 minutes with ten men after our keeper got sent off and it was never a red card. It was a disgraceful decision.

“Aaron did foul their player but it was 30 yards from goal, so not a goal-scoring opportunity. It was just a poor challenge and I think if it had been one of our defenders it would have been nothing more than a free-kick.

“We didn’t have a keeper on the bench, so Malachi Farquharson had to go in net. But we did well and he was hardly troubled.”

Albion were 1-0 up at the time of Brian’s dismissal and had to settle for a draw after a late equaliser from the visitors.

Sandhu was delighted that his players rallied in the face of adversity.

“Playing with ten men for so long against a team like Barton, who are up near the top of the league, and almost winning the game, I was very proud of the lads,” he said.

“They showed spirit, unity and desire. They obviously tired near the end but we never dropped our heads.

“Even when they scored their equaliser in the last minute, we had a great chance in stoppage time. I can’t give them enough credit for the way they played and their attitude.”
