Garreth Carvell admits he was delighted with his first outing in a Bulls jersey during Sunday’s win over Hull FC.

The close-season signing from Warrington was in typically formidable form, with impressive shifts either side of half-time, and looks ripe for a big season.

The 32-year-old prop said: “It was great to get back playing, and the boys were pretty impressive.

“Obviously it’s only a friendly but it was nice to see us put into practice some of the things we’ve done on the training field.

“It was a good battle and great to get stuck into some contact again. I thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Carvell reiterated his desire to stay at Odsal and is hopeful that no more players will be sacrificed before the new season begins.

He added: “No one wants to leave – no one has ever wanted to leave – and what has been going on behind the scenes has had no sort of effect on us as players.

“All we can control is what happens on the field and at training.

“That’s the attitude we take and it’s so late in the day now that there is no space left on most clubs’ salary caps and overseas quotas.

“Even if anyone did want to leave, which they don’t, then it would be difficult for them anyway.”

Meanwhile it has been revealed that Marc Green, of Leeds-based Safeguard Security Group, which owns one of the 100 shares in OK Bulls Limited, is now a non-executive director of the Bulls.

Mark Moore said: “He’s not involved day-to-day or with the management team but he has useful contacts, lot of business knowledge and we’ll certainly tap into that.”
