Kyel Reid faces up to eight months out of action, it was confirmed this afternoon.

Boss Phil Parkinson admitted: "It's a huge blow. Reidy will be out for six to eight months."

Is this a case of the ref not protecting players?
I didn't go on Saturday but radio said their full back went through him very early doors which should have been a clear yellow - which would have meant the player wouldn't have done it again??? But because the first tackle was very early you don't get booked - new rule that you can't get booked in the first few minutes.

This really is a major blow. He's our only outlet with the ability to run at defenders. Let's hope Graham gets a chance and fits the bill. It's one thing after another at the present. When your luck's down it really is down!

There are 2 people at fault for this, the full back for doing it and the ref for letting him get away with it, both equally guilty in my book. Does the rule about retrospective punishment apply in L1 or does it only apply to the money men in the Prem?

Great player, Good luck Kyel, get well soon fella!!!!

Hopefully we can bring in some quality with pace to replace the quality and pace Reid brought to the team, obviously the young Villa winger could be given a go but I'd go for more experienced and proven loan player. I remember Omar Daley getting a similar injury and unfortunately the wheels came off, so a experienced like for like replacement is needed. We're having some shocking luck at the minute. I'm sure BCFC will eventually come through this run of appalling luck a stronger club. Thankfully our next game is a while off yet.

Get well soon Reidy you will be missed.

going back to the previous article, Sheffield Utd exploit weakness. This was also exploited by Oldham when Meredith was playing, then by Bristol City and now by Sheffield. Both full backs were exploited and theses teams seem to have cottoned on to a system I assume the players have been told to play. Depending on what side of the field the ball is in play both our full backs and wide midfield men on the opposite side drift over to the Centre of the pitch and beyond. Yet the opposing winger and full back stay out wide and completely unmarked. When they receive the ball they have a head start on our players having to come from the centre of the pitch by which time all our defenders are having to run back facing there own goal which we know is then very difficult to defend. Then when we do attack the wide men have to run from the centre of the pitch out to the wing by which time two defenders are climbing all over them. I agree we do have to get another left back as this is not really McHughes position, but then I would put him in Central defence instead of Bates until Davies is back.

Whoa-our only real threat. The cupboard is really bare - need to get some replacements and fast. As Shaun says we're are in relegation dogfight and quite simply 4-4-2 does not work today. You need 4-5-1 or 3-5-2 - I have huge doubts about McLean and I am unsure whether PP really has nous to change our formation - exactly how many games without win will Board have patience with him?
Last year we were terrible without Meredith, had a similar dip after Reid was injured at Rochdale. PP has not performed in transfer market so I really think we are going to struggle. We need 18 points from 20 games and after next couple of games really 18 from 18. We must be nearing a club record of games without win.
Depressing.

Yeates has his proper chance now to put his money where his mouth is.....he is an experienced Championship player and has greater ball passing ability than Reid, and although lacks pace, is less frenetic. He could take things on pressurised by Jordan Graham. Need a left back alright but Meredith is not the best defensively anyway...central midfield alongside Jones needs support as lacking at this level....but Davies, McLean, Hanson and Jones are the backbone and practically all in place..defensively sound left back and an attacking midfielder please!!

I totally agree.
Much improvement from McClean.
I was not impressed when I heard we had signed him.
He has been there and done it and now on on the decline.
There was younger blood out there like the lad huddersfield signed after they signed wells.
This could be the axe of parky if Wells replacement does not do better and bang goals in.

Trust me parky wont play Graham ahead of Yeats.......he's loyal to his players.

Why take such a quality player on loan & not use him? No wonder they go straight back & dont want to come back!

Yeats is too much of a liability...........
.he gets the ball & passes it short ,backwards or sideways & then stands on the touch line & gives the receiving player no options. No pace & doesn't tackle back! Thommo might not be on his best form at the moment but at least he grafts back in defence & gives 100%................

You obviously were lucky enough to miss Yeates's non performance at Sheffield. Not for the first time either. I agree he has the ability but, sadly, not the inclination. I'll be annoyed if he starts against Preston after his no show against the Blades.

good luck to reidy, not his biggest fan but nobody deserves an injury like that.
hopefully parky will now try something different because we relied on reid too much.
either play the kid from villa or send him back.
dont waste his or our time with loans if you dont use them!
if the players know you wont play them it is not much pressure on first team is it?
thats what thommo as realised, off game.
does not matter, wont be dropped.

Oh dear hope you get well soon Kyle. Disgusting refereeing on Saturday, this is what happens when scum players get away with murder. Career threatening injuries, he wont be the same again.

That's us in a the mire. Our left side is destroyed, Meredith out and now Kyle.

You have to ask the question, what is Parkinson going to do. He best get some players in sharpish other wise we are sliding down like an avalanche. No win in 16 games is fatal at this level, if you can't win your home games you are struggling. The management from board level to ground level really needs to be sorted out.

What is going on around the club? We have a massive loyal fan bas had over 3000 fans at Sheffield Utd. The game was crying out for the young lad Graham to come on while we were on the up, what does Parky do leave him on the bench and put Doyle on. FFS I am at my wits end with Parkinson and his lack of vision and loyalty to players like Thompson etc.

I don't think Parkinson is the right manager to take City forward, to be honest he is taking us backwards, after all the beauty of promotion and wembley cup final, that is a distant memory. I really, really hope we stay up this season, it is very hard with all the injuries to our key players at this stage of the season. I ain't too impressed with our keeper Joe Mac. Too many errors at this level, like against Sheffield Utd, he should be coming out for that ball. it was only four yards from him!!! Poor keeper, should have kept Matt Duke.

Out of contract at the end of the season and with a young family down south, I just hope this isn't the last we see of Reidy.

Yes he is inconsistent; yes he can be frustrating, but bottom line is he is a threat and will be missed.

I think Yeates is the most skilfull player at the club, but he has got to ask himself the question why Parky has never started him over Thompson on the right, and it is simply because he doesn't work hard enough.

Watching the likes of Willian, Oscar and Hazard closing down their opponents the other day, there is no excuse for not working hard, even if defending is not your natural game.

If Yeates wants to be successful here, he needs to fit in with the team ethic of hard work.
