Four members of Bradford Fencing Club have been competing for Yorkshire epee titles at Halifax College.
Peter Fletcher, Paul Halliday, Kat Robinson and Nick Roper took part in the junior and senior competitions, with the junior event also being for anyone over 13 who had not previously placed at senior level.
Roper, in his first competition, and Halliday both came home with bronze medals for equal-third places, and the quartet all performed creditably in the senior event, where they met a number of experienced fencers, including the best epeeists in the county.
The epee is a straightforward weapon, with the whole body as target. The usual introduction to fencing is with the foil, a lighter weapon, and there are places on the next beginners' course run by Bradford Fencing Club.
Anyone interested should contact Thornton Recreation Centre to reserve a place on the ten-week course which starts on Tuesday, January 28.
