Paul Walker and Adam Clayton are shining lights at Bradford Park Avenue

Deacey signed Walker in the close season before last, and the left-sided forward has not missed a game since. He was the only ever-present player last term and has featured in every game this season.

“Wacker is unbelievable, he is Mr Consistency and he doesn’t get the acclaim he deserves,” said Deacey.

“He is the model footballer, never misses a training session and always puts 100 per cent effort in. Whether that’s in training, playing a practice game or in a big match, his standards never drop.

“It doesn’t matter what job you ask him to do, he does it and does it well. What I like about him is that he’s very, very good on the ball but he works so hard off it and tracks back so well.

“He has created loads of chances from the left-back area by either breaking down an attack or picking the ball up and carrying it the length of the pitch. He holds it up well and always delivers a good final ball.

“You never hear a murmur from him. He is a top-notch player and a top-notch guy. You couldn’t meet a nicer lad. He’s one of the best players I’ve worked with.”

With Walker working his magic at one end of the pitch, Clayton is part of the rearguard keeping the opposition at bay at the other end.

He has played right back and as the holding midfielder but Deacey feels his best position is in the centre of defence.

The manager said: “Adam has been absolutely superb over the last few weeks. He has really come on in his development and is making a decent centre half. He was good before but he’s moved up to another level.

“Sometimes players that can play in a few different positions don’t reach their full potential, but Adam has. He is really commanding at the back and, with his natural talent, he is comfortable on the ball.

“Wacker has been so consistent ever since he joined us but I would say Adam is probably the most improved player at the club.”
