CONFIRMED: Aaron Mclean joins Bradford City

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Aaron McLean arrives at City from Hull Aaron McLean arrives at City from Hull

Aaron Mclean has joined Bradford City on a two-and-a-half year deal.

The club this morning confirmed the former Hull striker has signed - and he is joining his new team-mates for training.

Mclean, 30, will come straight into the squad for Saturday's Yorkshire derby at Sheffield United.

A former Golden Boot winner in League Two for Peterborough, Mclean has found opportunities difficult in recent seasons at the KC Stadium and often played on the wing.

He had a spell on loan at Birmingham over Christmas before returning to Hull and scoring in their FA Cup win over Middlesbrough.

City boss Phil Parkinson said: "I'm thrilled by the arrival of Aaron.

"He is someone I have monitored for a while now and he has a proven record at this level.

"Aaron is a fantastic player and he will be a great personality to have around the dressing room.

"I am sure he is going to be an excellent acquisition for the football club."

MaClean or our departed striker?

Short term future up to 2 years, McLean.

Happy days, it's already wetted the appetite to return since Boxing Day as I was bored sh1tless watching same faces not perform week in, week out (with the same predictable substitutions)

Welcome aboard Aaron. A week is a long time in football and the feeling this week is so different to the feeling last week! Football is a transitional thing and, mostly, footballers come and footballers go. So our new "king" is here. Long live The King!! Now let's go boys - time to do your stuff and get the season back up and rolling. no better time to start than in a massive stadium in front of a huge crowd and in a big "derby". Good luck boys - Bradford expects.........

Should be a walk in the park for the lad in this league, He is a proven goalscorer and I agree with the other comment about needing a midfielder who can unlock defences and give the boy the service he needs, if they can get the ball to him on the ground this lad will score a hat full in this division. Onwards and upwards

Good signing, what do his looks have to do with anything???
You give this lad the ball on the deck and he will score a sack full of goals in this league, Just need someone with a bit of guile an the middle who can unlock defences and have a bit of the pace we are lacking in the middle to provide for him.
Looks like the beginning of a pretty potent forward line, Mclean definitely knows where the goal is...

Well done Parky, and well done Lawn, Rhodes, and the board - Credit where it's due, and after copping a lot of flack over the departure of he who shall remain nameless last week, this signing has more than made up for it all for my mind.

McLean WILL score goals for us at this level, and not only can he find the net, but my Tigers supporting mate says his industry made him popular with the fans at Hull - Apparently nothing is a lost cause, and he fights for everything. Exactly what's required to get us out of this sticky patch of form.

Welcome to our great club Aaron.

He did indeed - When you watch back his goals from this season, a good chunk of them were generated from what appeared initialy to be lost causes. If McLean can do half of what he did, he'll be worth the outlay.

We all will be for as long as he's there mate - We can only wish the lot of them the worst, although, and as much as it pains me to say, I have a feeling they are all going to flourish now. Just got to keep our ears closed and shout over it all! That's what I fully intend to do now anyway! Besides, if we keep moving forward ourselves, there'll be no need to look over at our smaller neighbours up the 62.

Agree with the comments about a central midfielder who can create and get forward but I dont think this will happen because PP like to play 2 solid central midfielders.

I'm fairly sure Kennedy did this role for Rochdale?? I know he did when he played against us. I'd like to see him get a run and given a licence to get forward.

Of course we all want McLean to be a success. However, these posters that claim he WILL BE a massive hit. Nobody knows that and every transfer has an element of risk.

The reality is that McLean was prolific in his earlier days, but that was years ago. He is older, has hardly played any football for the last 4 seasons and there is no guarantee he will DEFINITELY score goals in this league. That's not to say that he won't, just that I don't get this, 'he's the new messiah' label some are giving him.

Having only joined the squad today, I hope Gray gets the nod to start alongside Hanson this weekend. Let him settle in and get a good week of training behind him, before we throw him in. I hope, after spending a week training with us, Jordan Graham is given a start on the right wing.

We just need that left-back and box-to-box midfielder and this season can start again in earnest.

Because Gray didn't score the winner in his last start did he? In fact, 1 start, 1 goal this season. No matter how you look at it, it's a better record than our other strikers have got!

GOOD NEWS..Now we need a top notch central midfield player who can give the killer pass all the time
what we need is midfielders who can score goal's now and again, its no good leaving the full weight on the strikers shoulders. good luck to Mac , hope he gels with Hanson and helps him score more goals too.
