Bulls coach Francis Cummins last night spoke of his hope that a long-awaited breakthrough over the club’s ownership was finally in sight after yesterday’s positive talks.

RLF bosses met owner Omar Khan and his legal representatives along with director Ian Watt and former chairman Mark Moore, which led to a club announcement that an agreement had been reached “in principle” over its ownership.

Although no deal has yet been signed, Cummins is cautiously optimistic it will be rubber-stamped shortly to finally resolve the Bulls’ future and end the continued uncertainty surrounding the club.

The head coach, who spoke to the club’s directors last night, said: “Hopefully it can be signed and sealed as soon as possible so we can put all the issues over who owns the club and who is running it to bed.

“We don’t need to keep seeing headlines and uncertainty which only spooks people, especially after what we have been through as a club in the last couple of years.

“A deal looks like it has been agreed, so hopefully they can now properly move the club on and start generating some money.”

The Bulls made a number of Cummins’ backroom staff redundant or significantly reduced their hours during a wave of cuts last month.

It was announced that savings of up to £400,000 had to be made but, to date, former Widnes forward Frank Winterstein is the only player to have left Cummins’ squad.

Warrington youngsters James Saltonstall, Joe Philbin and Tom Walker this week joined the Bulls on four-week loan deals but Cummins is keen to bolster his small squad further with the new season little over a month away.
