Bradford Park Avenue have become one of the latest clubs to receive a defibrillator.
Following the heart attack suffered on the pitch by Bolton Wanderers player Fabrice Muamba in March 2012, a scheme was set up to try and enable clubs to buy an automated external defibrillator at a reduced cost.
The collaboration is happening between the British Heart Foundation (BHF), the Football Association (FA), the Football Conference and other leagues.
The BHF and the FA each contributed one third of the cost, with the individual club paying the remainder.
Avenue’s share was kindly sponsored by Avenue fan and turnstile operative Pete Hearn.
He presented the defibrillator to Avenue’s assistant manager Mark Hume, physio Kay Morgan and player Jamie Price prior to the 6-1 Skrill North victory against Worcester City last Saturday.
Hume, Morgan and Price have all been trained to use the equipment.
The defibrillator will be available for use at all Avenue games and training sessions but hopefully it will never be used for anything other than training purposes.
