Bradford City ladies on weather watch for crunch clash
Bradford City face a crucial game on Sunday at home to Blackburn Rovers in the FA Womens Premier League, with the weather continuing to threaten.
City's home base, at Thackley AFC, like many in the district, has come under pressure from the rain in recent weeks and it will be fingers crossed for coach Steve Winterburn as he looks for three points to help pull his side clear from the dogfight that is developing in the bottom half of the table.
Leeds United are at home to Sporting Club Albion in this Division while, in the Reserve Division, Huddersfield Town are at home to one of Bradford City's closest rivals, Nottingham Forest Reserves. With City having a free week, they are hoping Town will prevent Forest closing the gap at the top.
Town's first team are at Hepworth United in the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Cup, while their Northern Combination rivals Leeds City Vixens and Wakefield are at home to Sheffield United Community and Mossley respectively.
Fourth-placed Guiseley need an outstanding start to the New Year if they are to press for promotion from the North East Regional League Premier Division but coach Julie Grundy's side have a tough start at Barnsley.
In the Southern Division Brighouse Town are pushing for promotion and they should take the points from a home game against Rovers Foundation but mid-table Ossett Albion could find it hard going at home to Doncaster Belles.
There is a full programme in the West Riding Womens County League Premier Division with Bradford Park Avenue at home to Silsden.
