Cleckheaton and Yorkshire's Iain Wardlaw, Majid Haq and Gordon Goudie took three wickets each as Craig Wright and Paul Collingwood enjoyed a winning start to their spell in charge of Scotland with a six-wicket victory over a Canterbury XI in New Zealand.

Scotland bowled out their hosts for 168 in Christchurch, and Calum MacLeod then made 74 not out as Scotland reached 172-4 to secure a winning start to their World Cup qualifying preparations.

Former Scotland captain Wright and former England all-rounder Collingwood were promoted to the role of joint head coaches in place of Pete Steindl last week.

Scotland face the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Nepal and Canada in their qualifying group, which begins on January 10.
