Caleb Folan announces Bradford City departure

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Caleb Folan made only six substitute appearances during his short-term City stay Caleb Folan made only six substitute appearances during his short-term City stay

Caleb Folan has left Bradford City with a parting shot at Phil Parkinson.

The striker's departure had been predicted after making only six substitute appearances during his short-term stay.

Folan has not been involved since the 0-0 draw at Crewe on November 2 and has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.

He announced tonight: "It saddens me to say that my time here has now expired and I will be moving on.

"The most important thing for me right now is playing football and I’m sure you will understand that I need to pursue that.

"It saddens me that I have had no contact from the manager over the last month regarding my departure or anything else of that matter, not even a hand shake as a man, so that bothers me.

"But I will say I appreciate the club allowing me to come on board and assist in bringing my fitness back to a good place. It's a great club and I've been honoured to represent Bradford City."

Who's to blame, the player or the bloke who signed him?

'PP' has made some excellent decisions in his time at City and some excellent signings. Sad to say, only Mark Yeates falls into that category in this season's cohort of recruits. (Let's hope we get some decent ones in Jan.2014!)

If Mr P has a weakness in signings it seems to be a rosy attachment to former players at former clubs. Folan was just such a 'mistake' but, if what 'CB' says is true it looks as if 'PP' recognised his mistake pretty early in the player's period on loan and gave up on him. It was surely (City) money 'down the drain!'
Caleb Folan? 'PP's' Folly more like!

You would have thought a manager so reliant on a big man in the team would have worked on the only credible alternative to our regular one. I saw forlan play for hull in the premier and he did ok and on the face of it looked a good signing.

The player without doubt, he came with a pedigree which should have seen him burst into our lowly L1 team and hold down a regular start. He looked immobile, poor touch and not strong enough in the air even though he was like a house side.

How good has Thommo been playing? You have this rosy vision of him which I'm afraid to say is unbalanced. Once again yesterday he delivered little, one shot, straight at the keeper, no crosses or passes to one of ours, pace is going by the week and his confidence is draining as quickly.

Weve only heared Folans account of him leaving but if this is true ""It saddens me that I have had no contact from the manager over the last month regarding my departure or anything else of that matter, not even a hand shake as a man, so that bothers me". Phil Parkinon seems to be missing some man management skills,a "hand shake" and a "wish you well" doesn't cost owt !! shame if it's true but as I say weve only heard one side.
