Nick Scruton putting latest Bradford Bulls turmoil to back of mind

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Nick Scruton hopes to extend his stay at the Bulls Nick Scruton hopes to extend his stay at the Bulls

Nick Scruton hopes that the Bulls’ current crisis does not hinder his bid for a new deal after stating his “love” for the club.

The line-busting prop forward enjoyed his best season to date last campaign and scooped the majority of prizes in September at the player of the year awards as a result.

But Scruton, now in the last year of his current contract, is keeping his fingers crossed that the latest uncertainty swirling around Odsal does not scupper his bid for an extension.

“I’d love to stay at Bradford if everything’s all right and financially stable,” said Scruton, who is one of the Bulls’ longest-serving players after joining from Leeds in 2009.

“The situation is what it is. I’m just going to be going out and training as hard as I possibly can and, come game time, play as hard as I can.

“Contracts don’t look after themselves but I can’t be thinking about that at the minute.

“I’ve got family and stuff like that to think of as well, but my first choice would be to stay here because I’ve loved it here this past six years and I don’t really want to move. If that’s the best option for me, then I will stay.”

Scruton went through similar turmoil throughout the 2012 campaign, where he mostly watched on from off the pitch after being plagued by injuries while the Bulls’ future was up in the air.

He said: “Franny (Cummins) has always kept us in the loop and one of the sayings he always tells us is that we can’t control the mess-ups and stuff that have happened in the past.

“That’s all out of our hands and we don’t know everything that’s going on behind the scenes.

“What we can do is just get to Tong every morning and train and do it the best we can.

“Obviously it’s all in the back of your mind, but we just come in and do our job and try and be professional.”

Did Cummins not suggest he retired before the start of last season? If it all goes T*ts up he will have to take a big drop in his Wage .He is just like all Professional players he will go where he can get best deal. Stop all this Love of the Club business, I feel like being sick, sounds like Khan!! who came out with all this C /AP.

Was hoping for some more news on current crisis...the fans need to know what's happening asap as well as the players.... End of the day there so much money owed can we realy continue ?? Any other business would finish within a few weeks .....is khan/the courts/bulls/previou
s directors realy going to come to an agreement? Khan wants his Money and he wont give the shares ... He wont come back to bulls ...in reality unless we get a major sponcer we are finished... The rfl cannot pay the debts !!!! We will DEFINITELY go back into administration. Who wants to run a company that makes no money. Its ok having different owners who own little businesses in a big world ...we cant run with this ...we need a massive sponcer , millionaire owner and that will not happen.administratio
n here we come then liquidation.

Khan won't want to be the sole shareholder of a club going into administration as there'll be an inquiry into all the goings on like last time and he may not like the conclusions. He has all the shares but he has all the debts too. He'll want to someone to come on board and take the club on, but on his terms. The directors that resigned didn't like the deal Khan was pushing for and said they were out. Maybe Khan will think again? Could be a long poker game, but not good for the club who just need a period of boring old stability instead of this soap opera.

Reading the article, I think it was Nick Scruton who came out with all that c/ap, as you so eloquently put it. Nick Scruton, in case you were interested, made 656 tackles, gained 1993 meters and had an average go forward of 6.92 meters as well as tackling his marker 120 times last year. He sounds nothing like Khan since he seems a sight more willing to stick with the Bulls than our current owner does.
I think that six years where the club and player have stuck by one another would entitle him to say he loves the Bulls and wants to stay. I for one hope he does. How many awards did he win at the clubs end of season ceremony.
At best you've got the wrong end of the stick here, at worst you are misinformed and fail to understand just what blokes like scrutiny put their bodies through in the name of the club.

Some people do not like the Truth. No Super League Club would give him the Contract that he has had at Bulls. No wonder we are Skint. He will be out of there like a Rat down a drain pipe ,if he can find another Club. Average at best.

And you just happen to be the arbiter of truth, do you? Surely you mean some people take exception to your opinion? Saying something is the Truth doesn't make it true. I could point at an apple, call it an orange, and everyone one would know it was still an apple.
Stick to your guns if you must but your comments hardly move the debate forward, IMO, and smack of misplaced anger at our situation, IMO.

Scruton is average at best. I'm not surprised he won all the awards...who else was going to get them after our dire season. Our worst season on record, we were turned over by a team from London full of their juniors. He is grossly overpaid & thought very little of by the management as didn't we read cummins told him to retire. His constant injuries over the previous 3 years, well don't get my started!

I think players like scruton, kearney, purtell, gale :- all grossly overpaid would struggle to find a new SL club so no wonder they are worrying and no wonder they love bulls ;) They are quids in at bulls & this is the reason we are skint.

see we have reverted back to type as the vilest fans in SL, lets not slag off our players! Regardless of our results last season when you consider what was going on behind the scenes it was amazing that they even bothered to turn out at all.

These are the guys we should be supporting; for us we have a club in tatters, for them they have their jobs and families on the line.

the problem even our best players will have if it does go into liquidation (and we are facing that) is where do they go? most SL squads are full for next season and TBH who really wants to relocate to London?

I suggest ALL posters on here read more than the T n A to see this. As the paper only pushes one good article,as opposed to four bad ones. As I was told they publish as they see it. Ie have to keep sales up, no matter at what cost, to the Bulls or their supporters.

My comical friend Axel, who is this Viking all your type are obviously missing, by the number of times he's been mentioned, lately. I take it , that he got up your backs. Why? They say the truth hurts did it, when pointed at you? By the way there is an announcement of some significance being made shortly. From what I understand it will PPPP you right off.

Axel, remember " he who laughs last, laughs longest " and I believe it won't be you. Like Rogerthat, you'll disappear back under your rock, when you're proved wrong, once again.
There she is now and I thought you were dead

Hmm.

If there was ever a platform for some of the festering dregs of humanity to excrete their bilious poison, it is this place.

Telegraph & Argus: you should be heartily ashamed of the vicious nastiness that you allow a platform for. It is little wonder fewer and fewer decent people visit this site. Maybe one day your advertisers, who are your real customers, will tell you the same. Or maybe they will just pull their business, and with it your jobs? And you will only have yourselves to blame.

You do not deserve to stay in business if you are prepared to allow unmoderated evil to be published, of the kind that has been posted by certain folk who clearly have mental health problems. If you are prepared to host an opinions forum, you should be prepared to moderate it. So how about you grow some? Sort of NOW would be good.

Oh dear

It just gets worse

Why are all the fans fallng out with each other?
People have a right to feel angry at the mismanagement but why so much hatred towards each other.

Thin the pressure and drink has got to all.

Well said Adey.

I think a Bullbuilder fans trust to run the Bulls with you at the forefront would prove difficult if this is representative of its representatives.

Bu one things for sure.

This lot are going to have to get used to frugality.
For many years.
