No fear factor for in-form Guiseley

Guiseley visit neighbours Harrogate Town tomorrow, with boss Mark Bower declaring his side should fear no-one.

Victory in the Conference North clash would see the Lions join their neighbours on 32 points and, although Harrogate have a superior goal difference, it would be a significant swing ahead of the return clash at Nethermoor on New Year’s Day.

Bower leads his side into the game on the back of a 14-match unbeaten run, 11 of which have been victories.

He said: “It should be a good game because Harrogate are on a good run themselves.

“We have got some tough fixtures over the Christmas period but the confidence is high and, if we continue to play with the commitment we have shown throughout our unbeaten run, we shouldn’t fear anyone.”

Bower gave a debut to Luke Parkin in last Saturday’s 2-2 home draw against promotion-chasing Altrincham after bringing the 18-year-old forward in on a month-long loan from Leeds United.

Parkin started on the left hand side of a three behind Alex Johnson in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

The position had been Danny Forrest’s until he pulled a hamstring in the FA Trophy win over Bradford Park Avenue.

Bower’s assistant and midfield general Danny Boshell was also missing from the squad against Altrincham. An agreement that Boshell would not play against the club that Guiseley signed him from had ruled him out.

Bower said: “We will have Danny back available as he will be allowed to play in this one.

“Danny Forrest and Adam Lockwood won’t be too far behind.

“This game might be just too soon for them but they should be back in the reckoning for Saturday at home to Gainsborough.”
