BRADFORD CITY AA
The last match of 2013 is the Geoff Scollick Cup and Christmas Cheer on the River Ure at Lower Dunsforth on Sunday. Tickets are £15 all in and are available from the match secretary on 07875-275749 or 01423-523368. The club has ended 2013 with well over 1,000 members, a small increase over 2012. Membership renewals for 2014 are running at record levels, with the new annual Gargrave permit for our fly-only stretch on the Aire being a great success. Full details of the club, costs and how to renew membership can be found on the website at www.bradfordcityaa.co.uk. The club will also be selling 2014 yearbooks at Staveley Lakes, dates to be announced shortly. Members have reported good bags of chub, including fish of over 6lb from the Swale after the rain last weekend. Fishing on other BCAA waters is holding up well in the continuing mild weather. The long-range weather forecast for the Dales is for heavy overnight rain at the weekend, and many river levels may then be high for fishing. Anglers might therefore wish to focus their fishing efforts on the club’s coarse fishing stillwaters at Staveley, Shipton and Oakworth.

There has been a further stocking of C4 carp into Knotford. This is part of an on-going initiative to improve the quality of stock at this venue. Widdington Hall will be closed on Sunday for an outside booking. Membership for 2014 is now available to purchase at just £5 for juniors for the full year. Renewals for senior members will cost £44 and membership for ladies, veterans and intermediates will be £24. This is available to purchase from all the usual tackle outlets (Pudsey Angling Supplies new for 2014), online (www.bradfordno1.com) or from ticket & licence secretary Simon Freer on 01706-526356.
The item of fishing equipment found at Pilley’s has still not been claimed. Contact 07984-597328. The first batch of applications for Leeds Amalgamation membership books are now available. The winner of the specimen fish award is Mr Hargreaves with a carp of 24lb 6oz. The winner of the merit trophy is D Highley.
There is a canal match on Sunday. To book on contact Richard on 07815-092966. This is likely to be pegged on the Elis Briggs and Shipley boat lengths. The pike match last Sunday was won with five fish for 25lb 3oz. Second place was a single fish of 10lb 9oz. Yearbooks are now available from all our agents.
2014 yearbooks should be available in the usual outlets within the next couple of weeks. The canal at Crossflatts is still fishing well to bread punch and pinkie despite the colder weather.
