Albion Sports’ trip to Staveley MW in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division was postponed just after the hour-mark last night.

It came as no surprise but that did not make it any less frustrating for Albion, who were 4-1 up at the time.

Albion boss Kulwinder Sandhu said: “The referee took the players off after 61 minutes and the rain was really bad at that point. I asked the officials to give it ten minutes to see if it improved but the home side were pushing for it to be abandoned.

“I think the ruling is that a result can stand but only after 70 minutes, so it looks like we will have to travel down there again on another midweek night and start from scratch.”
