Bradford Warriors under-11s faced off against Mount Pleasant in Division 4A of the Huddersfield RCD Junior League knowing a win was vital to stay in contention for the title.

With Rastrick Rangers unbeaten after nine games and looking hot favourites, neither side could afford to slip up, having both lost twice.

It turned out to be a frustrating Sunday morning for the Warriors, who went down 7-2.

Warriors got off to a great start, taking the lead after five minutes through Brandon McDonagh.

A second arrived shortly afterwards through Roberto McFarlane and the Warriors were cruising, having another four or five opportunities to score in the first 20 minutes.

Mount Pleasant pulled one back before half-time and the visitors were left questioning some decisions which went against them.

Mount Pleasant broke away and levelled the game at 2-2 early in the second half.

The action went from end to end, with Mount Pleasant making the most of their opportunities to run out comfortable winners, however the Warriors management were unhappy at what they claimed were a number of fouls on Roberto McFarlane when he was through on goal which went unpunished.

Wyke Wanderers under-tens A retained second spot in the table with a 3-1 win at home to Dewsbury Rangers.

Wyke started slowly and were punished by conceding an early goal.

They squandered several half-chances and were making the wrong choice to shoot from distance.

They finally equalised in the second half, with Reece Clay powering home a 20-yard free-kick.

From then on Wyke started playing some neat football and they took the lead when Jack Leach converted Jacob Smith’s pass.

Leach and Smith linked up again to seal the points, with Leach heading home Smith’s throw-in.

The B team are now unbeaten in over two months following a 3-0 win at home to Dewsbury Rangers.

Dewsbury’s resolute defence ensured the game remained goalless at the break.

The second half looked like it would be more of the same, with Wyke going close but not close enough on several occasions.

Finally Wyke managed to break the deadlock, with Kamran Latif scoring.

Tyrese Liu then converted Hayden Clifford’s cross and the partnership struck again, as Liu converted after Clifford’s initial shot rebounded off the Dewsbury keeper.

Wibsey Lions under-16s maintained their unbeaten league run with a comfortable 6-1 win over Ryburn. Damien Hields scored the first after good work from Callum Docherty.

A great team move was finished off by Josh Thompson to make it 2-0, before Ryburn got back into the match just before half-time with a goal of their own.

Wibsey went into overdrive at the start of the second half, scoring four decisive goals in ten minutes.

Josh Thompson doubled his tally before Nathan Khan made it 4-1. Man of the match Callum Docherty added a fifth before Cam Green’s header put the game beyond doubt.

Wibsey Lions under-12s got their second league win of the season with a 6-2 success over Howden Clough.

The Lions got off to an awful start, conceding an early goal, but then played their way back into the game with some great passing moves and took a deserved 3-1 lead at the break, with two goals from Owen Khan and one from Jacob McLoughlin.

Nathan Aylott added a fourth at the start of the second half before Clough pulled one back.

Wibsey started piling forward and the pressure paid off as Aylott scored, with McLoughlin completing the scoring in the last minute.

Shelf Juniors A maintained their run of good form with a 4-2 victory over Hepworth.

Despite being bottom of the table, Hepworth put in a hard-working performance which Shelf had to match.

The game started well for Shelf as Josef Storer and Lewis Fitzpatrick gave them an early two-goal lead.

Two more goals close to half-time by Alex Swinbank made it 4-0.

However, Hepworth struck twice early in the second half to make a game of it but man of the match Jordan Harrison was in excellent form in the middle of the park to ensure there was no upset.

Shelf Juniors under-11s B gained another well-earned point with a 2-2 draw at Battyford B. Ben Leonard had a great game at the back and the goals came from Cameron Holmes and Lewis Emmott.

BPA under-15s came close to their first league win of the season in Division B of the Craven, Aire & Wharfe League at home to Fairbank before going down 5-3.

Fairbank took the lead and were awarded a penalty shortly after which hit the crossbar.

BPA stood firm and were themselves awarded a penalty, which Billy Enoch calmly placed in the bottom corner.

In the second half, BPA took the lead when Enoch finished off following an accurate pass from Isaac Khan.

It was soon 3-1 when more pressure in the Fairbank 18-yard box led to Hassan Qureshi getting onto a cross for a tap-in and his first goal of the season.

But Fairbank came back strongly, stunning BPA with four goals to clinch the points.

There were impressive performances from Isaac Khan and man of the match James Frazer.
