A Jonny Bairstow century helped the England Performance Programme to a four-wicket win in their three-day match against Western Australia Second XI in Perth.
Bairstow, like fellow batsman Gary Ballance made available from England’s Ashes squad for this fixture between the second and third Tests, responded with a second-innings 123 as the tourists chased a target of 347 at James Oval.
Moved up to open, Bairstow (123) shared a second-wicket stand of 144 with James Vince (69).
After the hosts declared on the last morning on 248-8, Tim Armstrong falling one run short of his hundred, Bairstow and Vince put the EPP on course.
Then handy 40s from Ballance and Varun Chopra carried them to 348-6 to clinch the final match of the tour with two overs to spare.
