Anyone trying to predict the results of SSE Yorkshire Division Two this season would probably be well out of pocket.

Such has been the topsy-turvy nature of the battles in this section that only five points separate the first six.

Only two of that half-dozen go head to head on Saturday, with Hullensians (fifth) visiting Bradford Salem (third).

Salem suffered a shock 28-24 defeat at second-from-bottom Ripon last weekend, showing that unexpected results have not been confined to the leading group.

The Heaton club’s fixture secretary Neil Klenk says: “We generally beat Hullensians at home and have even won there twice, but we always respect them as opponents.”

Baildon continue their battle against the drop at home to Leodiensian.

Keighley, also battling against demotion, are without fly half Tom Rock, who has had a wisdom tooth removed, and full back Rob Wilkinson (concussion) for their SSE Yorkshire Division One derby at Heath.

“We need to start winning,” said director of rugby Graeme Sheffield, whose side have lost their last five and are second from bottom.

Old Brodleians reckon this section is at its most competitive for many a year.

They host North Ribblesdale and must not be as shoddy as they were in the first half last week in the loss at Bridlington.

Old Grovians are down on numbers for their SSE Yorkshire Division Three trip to Rotherham Phoenix.
