Cougars chairman Gary Fawcett praises stalwart forward James Feather

Cougars chairman Gary Fawcett has paid a rich tribute to James Feather and hailed him as one of the most selfless players he has ever encountered.
As the man known as Buster gears up for his testimonial match this weekend, Fawcett told the story of how the long-serving hooker acted as the go-between last year when the club were late paying wages.
Fawcett said: “One story that illustrates that is when the club were struggling to pay some of the players on time during the 2012 season. Buster would chase me to find out when they would be getting paid – but not for himself. “He was chasing me to check when the other players would be paid and was prioritising them before himself. “That’s the mark of a true leader and he shows it on and off the field. He fully deserves significant support from everyone in his testimonial season.”
Fawcett said Feather was an example for aspiring young rugby league players to follow.
He added: “Buster is an exemplary captain and epitomises the type of player Keighley Cougars want in their side. “He has come up through the ranks and developed through the academy and reserve route as a local lad. The club wants to develop local young talent to do exactly what Buster has done.
“He has shown that, with the right attitude, you can make it all the way to club captain. “There are many facets as to why Buster has achieved so much. “He’s passionate about playing rugby league, he cares about the club and wants it to be the best it can be.
“His attitude is first-rate and this has been commented on many times by his rugby managers. Quite simply, he is a leader.”
