Highdale A were looking to avenge their only defeat of the season so far when they faced Dewsbury Tog in the Bradford Table Tennis League.

The defending Division One champions were well beaten in the opening week of the season but a great performance from Peter Morgan guided them home in a tight contest.

Tony Bottomley and Steve Crosby both won two for Tog but Morgan came up trumps for Highdale with three wins, Richard Whiteley and Graham Manicom both beat Steve Kosmowsky and Morgan and Whiteley took the doubles as Highdale got home 6-4.

In Division Four, promotion-rivals Hermits G and Hermits F featured in a ding-dong contest which finished with honours even.

Chris Town was in fine form for the G team with a treble while Paul Lister chipped in with two, for the F team. Geoff Parkes came from two games down to beat both Lister and Joe Healey. Norman Swift and Roger Swithenbank both overcame Healey and these two combined to take the doubles against Town and Lister after losing the first two games.

Fastbats C were inspired by veteran Terry Miller as they held Division Three leaders Embassy B to a draw. Miller was unbeaten with Allan Jeffrey and David Blackburn both getting the better of Derek Briggs in five games. Martin Connolly and Palminder Sandhu both won two for Embassy and they added the doubles to share the points.
