Division Five leaders Hermits I are proving unbeatable as they amass a commanding advantage – but they had to dig deep to keep their Bradford League record intact as they found Thornbury a tough nut to crack.

Hermits had only conceded nine sets in seven previous matches but Thornbury looked on course to spoil that record when Kaleem Afzal and David Wilson won twice each to put their side 4-2 up.

Finally Hermits got their act together as John Margerison and Brian Cooper took two wins each and the doubles, while Stuart Stead added a single for a 6-4 victory.

In Division Two, Unity D registered their first victory of the season, 6-4 at the expense of Highdale C. Phil Mann was in fine form for Highdale with three wins but the hosts took the spoils as Dave Mitton and Adrian Worth won two each, Johnathon Greaves added one and Mitton and Worth clinched victory in five games in the doubles.

Pudsey A suffered their first defeat in this section at the hands of Fastbats B. Doug Bartle took all three points for Pudsey but Fastbats hit back from 4-3 down as Keith Smith and Greg Hill both won two. Helen Shields took the last singles and joined Smith to clinch a 6-4 victory in the doubles.

Rastrick moved to the top of Division Four when they ended the unbeaten record of Hermits F. Ronnie Maystone dropped only one game in winning all his singles for Rastrick and he was backed up by Brian Banks, who won two before together they took the doubles for a 6-4 verdict.
