Wibsey out to kick-start season in Yorkshire Cup
Wibsey Warriors are back in cup action when they welcome league rivals Queens in the third round of the Hamuel Reichenbacher Yorkshire Cup at Northfield Road on Saturday.
The Warriors, who are disappointed with their stuttering start to the season, have some welcome relief with the return from injury of influential trio Shaun Godfrey, Nick Walker and Jimmy Waddington.
But new signing Steve Illingworth and wingman Neil Wall are the latest casualties to miss out. Coach Jason Hirst will still be confident of progressing to the next round against the Leeds outfit that are no longer the force they used to be, with home advantage likely to count heavily in their favour.
Queensbury, who have made a steady start following relegation to the Pennine League Champion-ship, will have their work cut out to progress further at Premier Division high-fliers Hunslet Old Boys.
Bank Top Harriers have a golden chance to break their duck in the Pennine League Premier Division when they travel to bottom club Halifax Irish, who have lost all their five outings and are struggling badly, while Bank Top have their old warhorse centre Jason Gelder firing on all cylinders.
In the Championship One, Birkenshaw are at home to Brighouse Rangers, who will fancy their chances having lost just one game so far, but Birky will be looking to Dudley Hill favourite Nathan Kitson to show his high-scoring prowess to ensure the spoils.
Clayton face a tough game against Siddal A at Lidget Green. The Villagers have regrouped and look to be on the mend despite being bottom of Division Two. The Halifax side, however, have a huge squad and a good record on the road.
Unbeaten Division Four leaders Victoria Rangers travel to third-placed Eastmoor Dragons. Vics, who have a 200-plus points difference, are really on song, with Willy Woodhead leading by example and anything other than another big score will be a surprise.
All matches now kick off at 2pm.
