Bradford City boss Phil Parkinson ready for ‘tough’ FA Cup tie at Rotherham
Phil Parkinson believes the FA Cup first round offers the perfect chance to put one over Rotherham.
The Millers did the double last season when both sides won promotion from League Two, with City failing to score in either game.
There is no love lost between the clubs, who will now meet at the New York Stadium a week on Saturday. Their first league encounter this term is not until Boxing Day.
Parkinson said: “It’s a tough draw for us but it’s going to be a cracking game. I’m sure our supporters will turn out in numbers.
“We’re kind of due a victory against Rotherham but we know they are a good side who are going well this season. We will go there and endeavour to get through.”
Having gone out of the Capital One Cup and Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at the first stage, City are looking for the financial boost of a good FA Cup run.
Parkinson said: “You don’t really want a team from your division and ideally you’d like a home tie.
“But if you get an away draw then you want it to be local and this will be an exciting Yorkshire derby.”
