Thank you to all members who attended this year’s annual general meeting. Beal will be closed on Sunday for a Yorkshire Winter League match. Chellow Dene is fishing well for roach, chub and ide and the River Swale should be carrying extra water this weekend, so barbel should be worth targeting. Queen Mary’s Ponds at Ripon are fishing very well for tench and bream, with some specimen bream over 10lb being caught.
The heaviest fish caught during the week was a 6lb blue trout by John Passelow using black/green fritz. Fewston: Trout have been taking daddy long legs from the surface (great fishing) but cold mornings and rain then pushed them deep again, requiring intermediate lines and heavy lures to spur them into feeding. Swinsty: Trout are moving into flowing water as levels drop. Natural flies are taking trout. Catch details (week ending October 13) – Day ticket: Fewston 15, Swinsty 2; total fish caught: Fewston 35, Swinsty 3; average per rod: Fewston 2.3, Swinsty 1.5.
