League victory would be ideal FA Cup preparation for Bradford Park Avenue
There will be two aims in mind as Bradford Park Avenue go in search of a victory in the Skrill North at Frank Sinclair’s Colwyn Bay on Saturday.
Boss John Deacey is looking for his side to push back up the table after slipping to eighth place and they will want to extend their unbeaten run to a dozen games to keep confidence high before their FA Cup tie at home to Kidderminster Harriers a week on Sunday.
Avenue, who have a free week between Saturday’s trip to Llanelian Road and the cup visit of Conference Premier high-fliers Kidderminster, have won four of their last six league games.
But they want to get back on the victory trail after drawing last time out in the league at Solihull Moors.
Saturday's Welsh hosts are struggling in 15th place after winning just two of their ten league fixtures.
Former Chelsea and Leicester player Sinclair moved to improve his strike force this week when he brought Marc Williams back to the club.
The 25-year-old targetman was with Colwyn as a youth but left to join Wrexham. He also had a spell with Chester and Kidderminster but he joins Colwyn from North-wich Victoria, for whom he scored against Farsley last Saturday.
Deacey is hoping some of his walking wounded will be available, especially with next weekend’s big FA Cup tie on the horizon.
The Bradford boss said: “I had four players missing last week at home to Penrith in the last round of the cup.
“I had just 15 fully fit players and we managed to fill the bench with players who were not quite ready.
“Nicky Boshell, Jamie Price, Tom Corner and Scott Maxfield all missed out but they are working hard to get back to full fitness.
“Jordan (Deacey, the manager’s son and midfielder out with a double fracture of the arm) is training but he won’t be in contention this weekend or next.”
