Pursglove and Shickell take top Cougars plaudits
Ollie Pursglove and Andy Shickell took the top honours at Cougars’ annual presentation night last week.
Second-rower Pursglove won the player of the year award, while prop Shickell scooped two main prizes – the players’ player of the year and the supporters’ player of the year.
The rising star accolade went to homegrown second-rower Josh Lynam, who made a big impact after breaking into the side in the second half of the season.
Paul White was crowned top try-scorer, while James Haley earned the try of the season prize, breaking four tackles to get over the line against Dewsbury and dislocating his shoulder in the process.
Club person of the year was won by David Kirkley, while Shickell also won the Big Red Fun Bus player of the year.
Under-20s, Player of the Year – Charlie Ecclestone, Players’ Player of the Year – Charlie Ecclestone; Rising Star – Chris Watson; Clubman – Llewellyn Chapman; Wilson Memorial – Sean Kelly.
