Richard Tunningley joins Bradford Bulls coaching staff
Richard Tunningley was today confirmed as the Bulls’ new under-19s coach.
Tunningley joins the club from Castleford, where he was working as head of youth development, having also served the Tigers as player performance manager since April 2010.
During his time at Cas, he maintained and developed high-performance pathway systems and structures for the club’s young players.
Tunningley was also assistant to Danny Orr while he was in temporary charge of the senior side and will link up with the Bulls on November 1.
Head of youth development Paul Medley, who has been in charge of the under-19s this season, is delighted to have him on board.
He said: “We advertised the post and were delighted with the quality of the applicants but we knew Richard was the right man for the job because of his experience in this area.
“He has previously worked in youth development at both Castleford and Wakefield Wildcats and had a spell at the RFL.
“He will bring with him a proven track record of bringing players through the system at clubs and he will be a massive asset to us going forward.”
Tunningley said: “This is a great opportunity for me to come to the Bulls.
“I have been very impressed with the structures that Paul Medley and (head coach) Francis Cummins have put in place and also the calibre of the juniors at the club.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Castleford and thank them for the opportunity they gave me but I feel now that the time is right to further my career at the Bulls.”
