Farsley ‘let Wakefield off the hook’
Farsley 2 Wakefield 2
A last-minute equaliser from Wakefield robbed Farsley of a third straight victory in Evo-Stik Division One North.
The home side created a hatful of good opportunities but the fans inside Throstle Nest had to wait until the 52nd minute to celebrate a goal.
Even then it was the minority in the stands that were cheering as David Bordman opened the scoring for the visitors.
Farsley recovered and it was Lee Ellington who had the home supporters jazzing it up. Ellington netted in the 68th minute and Matty Young then put the home side in front 11 minutes later.
It would have been a deserved victory on the balance of play but there was to be a cruel twist. Deep into stoppage time a Ferdinand Annor strike gave Wakefield a share of the spoils.
Farsley manager Neil Parsley was left frustrated, saying: “Sometimes in football you get your just rewards, in this instance we didn’t.
“We missed a host of chances and dominated from start to finish. Wakefield came to spoil the game and sat back – they offered very little as an attacking force. We should have won but we let them off the hook.”
The home draw dropped Farsley down one place to sixth when a victory would have taken them up to third.
