Leigh Sugden returns for Keighley
As an agricultural contractor, autumn is one of the busiest work periods for Leigh Sugden.
However, things have slackened off sufficiently for the No 8 to make himself available for Keighley at home to Selby on Saturday.
His inclusion is a major plus for the hosts, who have lost their opening three league games despite being relegated back into SSE Yorkshire Division One.
But it is to be hoped that just because their talisman has returned, people don’t think that things will suddenly fall into place.
Neither Sam Walker nor Luke Carter are available this weekend, so the wingers are Jack Brooke, who will be making his first start, and Liam Kelly.
Matt Hagyard is set to make his seasonal debut off the bench.
Bradford Salem, who have three wins from as many matches in SSE Yorkshire Division Two, are without full back Danny Belcher for the home game against Knottingley.
However, Sam Savage is available now his rugby league duties are over at Stanningley, so he comes in on the wing with Sam Dunn reverting to No 15.
Joe Fawcett is also set to debut off the bench after his move from Bradford & Bingley.
Baildon, promoted last season from Yorkshire Three into Salem’s division, have made an horrendous start.
They have lost all three games and have conceded 144 points while only scoring 25.
However, former skipper James Dawson is set to return for them at scrum half at home to Moortown after concentrating on his young family.
Another boost is the return of another leader, Alistair Beaumont, at No 8.
Bradford Salem (home to Knottingley): S Dunn; S Savage, C Malarkey, S Gardner, C Walker; A Robinson, M Child; J Bradbury, A Veitch, S Davies, S Leach, J Cunliffe, J Booth, D Pearson, R Green. Replacements: D Luxton, J Fawcett, A N Other.
