Sunday canal match result: 1 Pete Riley (Halifax Matrix) 7lb 2oz, 2 David Chadwick (Halifax Matrix) 6lb 11oz, 3 Martin Taylor (Halifax Matrix) 4lb 14oz, 4 Paul Cryer (Maver North West) 4lb 5oz. The next match is on Sunday, October 6. The annual general meeting is planned for Monday, November 4. Any proposals from the general membership should be submitted in writing (address in the yearbook) or by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org before Monday, October 7 (the next committee meeting). We are seeking to add some new blood to the committee, so would anybody interested please put their name forward. The commitment is not onerous, just one meeting a month on the first Monday except when that is a bank holiday. On the River Aire, there have been reports of catches of trout and grayling over 2lb, a catch of four chub and another of five chub and a barbel. All were from length four, the bottom double bank length.
The heaviest fish caught during the week was a 4lb 2oz brown trout by John Passelow using suspended buzzer. Fewston: Trout are feeding at different depths throughout the day, making fly choice difficult. Most success is with traditional wets. Teal blue and silver and black pommell have done well. Swinsty: Trout and perch are taking ledgered worm. Thruscross: Brown trout are feeding on heather fly and daddy long legs, which are strong in the surface film. Catch details (week ending September 22) – Day ticket: Fewston 34, Swinsty 2, Thruscross 2; total caught: Fewston 141, Swinsty 9, Thruscross 7; average per rod: Fewston 4.1, Swinsty 4.5, Thruscross 3.5.
