Silver lining for Yorkshire ladies
Yorkshire ladies were winners of the Waterloo Cup on Saturday after defeating North Shropshire 446-381 at The Waterloo, Blackpool.
While Yorkshire will have been upset not to have made it through to the main final, they finished the year in style with this win.
North Shropshire made the slightly better start but Yorkshire were superior throughout, carding 16 winners out of the 24 jacks, winning the aggregate by an impressive 65-chalks.
Yorkshire were playing on the Blackpool green for the third time in consecutive years, having won the Waterloo Cup in 2011 and just losing the County Championship title in 2012. This year Katie Turner (Cranmore) and Maureen Chambers (Castleford Town) made their successful debuts for the county.
Katie joined her mother Irene in the Yorkshire team.
