Bradford Park Avenue’s fortunes on the rise after win at promotion rivals Boston United

Avenue stretched their unbeaten run in the Skrill North to eight games with a win at promotion rivals Boston United last night.
John Deacey’s men got off to the best possible start when Alex Davidson broke the deadlock after just five minutes with a super finish to convert Nicky Boshell’s through ball.
A well-worked move begun by Paul Walker in the tenth minute ended with him getting on the end of a cross into the box to steer in Avenue’s second with his instep.
Chib Chilaka had the ball in Boston’s net but the strike was chalked off for offside.
Another former Bantam, Spencer Weir-Daley, was in fine form for Boston and he caused the Avenue defence problems.
The home side hit the post early in the second half and halved the deficit in the 57th minute when Weir-Daley provided the assist for Marc Newsome to fire home from 25 yards. Just three minutes later Avenue had their two-goal cushion back after Steve Mallory turned in a Walker corner from close range.
But Avenue had to dig deep, especially after conceding a late penalty. Mallory went from hero to zero as he fouled Ricky Miller eight minutes from time. Newsome stepped up to add his second with a powerful strike from the spot.
Bradford leapt five places to seventh with the win.
