Manager's call to play Bradford City game on Friday
City boss Phil Parkinson made the decision to switch next month's Tranmere home game to Friday night rather than playing on Sunday.
The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 11 - but has had to be moved at the request of West Yorkshire Police because of an English Defence League demonstration in the city centre on that day.
Some fans were unhappy that the new date will now clash with England's World Cup qualifier against Montenegro and questioned why it was not shifted until the day after.
City number two Steve Parkin confirmed the Friday ruling was made by the manager to fit in with the usual training schedule.
Parkin said: "When we've trained in a normal week after we've done our work on a Thursday and a little bit on Friday, we're ready to play anyway.
"In my experience, Friday night games are really good and there is a tendency to have a little louder atmosphere."
