Farsley fade following bright opening burst
Kendal Town 3, Farsley 0
Farsley returned with nothing to show from their difficult trip to the periphery of the Lake District despite a strong opening against Kendal.
It is always going to be a daunting prospect, with an arduous journey to face a traditionally strong team in front of a partisan crowd.
The homeward leg of Farsley’s journey would have dragged even more after Kendal banked the three points on offer from this Evo-Stik League Division One North clash.
Neil Parsley’s men looked the better side in the early exchanges but Kendal soon settled and Danny Mitchley gave them the lead midway through the first half.
They held that advantage until the break and controlled much of the second half.
The home side doubled their cushion when Danny Coid netted a 59th-minute penalty, before Mitchley’s second goal saw them canter home.
The victory saw Kendal leapfrog their visitors and go fifth in the table, while Farsley tumbled to ninth spot.
There is only one point separating the two clubs but they have both played one game more than six of their top-ten rivals.
Most of the other clubs were involved in FA Cup action but Farsley, defeated by league rivals Lancaster City, and Kendal, who were beaten by Northern League outfit Crook Town, are already out.
