Brighouse Town show FA Cup credentials as Albion Sports bow out
Brighouse Town will be in tomorrow’s draw for the second qualifying round of the FA Cup – but they will not be joined by local rivals Albion Sports.
The two clubs experienced vastly differing experiences yesterday, with Town enjoying a home win while Albion had a quiet journey home from their tie.
Brighouse faced Crook Town, who had knocked Evo-Stik League outfit Kendal Town out in the preliminary round, and eased to a 4-1 victory after taking a very early lead.
Ernest Boafo scored in the second minute but Crook were level at the break after Kyle Davis’ goal right on the stroke of half-time.
Ryan Hall edged Brighouse back in front in the second period before goals from Tom Matthews and Ben Small, within a five-minute spell just after the hour, made the contest safe.
Albion Sports gave a good account of themselves at Northern League top-tier leaders Marske United for an hour before the home side got the upper hand to win 3-0.
Andrew Jennings opened the scoring, Adam Wheatley doubled their advantage and Johnny Alexander made it three with six minutes remaining.
