Despite dominating most of the game, Wyke Wanderers Under-Tens A could only manage a 1-1 draw at Thornhill in the Huddersfield RCD Junior League.

Freddie Downes' 20-yard shot was palmed over in the first half, when Hayden Clifford had a superb shot saved.

Playing uphill in the second half, Wyke took the lead through Jack Leach, who headed home from the corner.

Thornhill pulled one back when a looping ball beat Wyke's defence and their keeper.

Wyke's B team also dominated but were unable to convert any of their chances.

Despite hard work by Sam Kershaw and Ben Duffy, Wyke conceded a penalty in the latter stages of the game, having been denied one of their own for a similar challenge at the other end of the field.

Luke Morphet, in goal, went the right way but was unlucky not to save it. Matthew Leaper went close late on, a free-kick going just over the bar. Next week Wyke are at Dewsbury Rangers.

BPA Under-15s had a tough start to their Craven, Aire & Wharfe League season, losing 10-0 at home to Albion Sports.

Man of the Match for BPA was keeper Josh Halpin, while there were impressive league debuts for Nathan Armstrong, Isaac Khan and Lewis Haynes.

However, in contrast, BPA Under-18s made it 19 goals in three games by defeating Menston 8-4. Man of the match for BPA was Jack Kipling, who scored with an impressive free-kick.

Thornton notched an exciting 4-3 victory over Bingley Boca in Under-12 Division E. Goals for Thornton, who trailed 2-1 at half-time, came from Callum Hooson, J-Lee Browne, Harry Prescott and Sam Swales.

Owen Taylor and Thomas Whitaker attacked well out wide for Thornton, and Adam Kelly and Thomas Wellens were solid at the heart of the defence.

Josh Walker was excellent in midfield, creating chances for J-Lee and Harry, as were Jamie Sanders and Luke Gorman, the latter setting up Sam for his goal with a pin-point crossfield ball.

Only last-ditch defending from Lewis Parkinson and Ben Laville, along with some point-blank saves from man of the match and captain for the day Spencer Sutcliffe prevented Bingley from equalising in the dying minutes.
