Division Two handicap event promotes golfing inclusion
The four finals of the Bradford Union Matchplay Championship take place this Sunday at Baildon Golf Club.
The other semi will see Mark Evans and Jacob Devanny of Bingley St Ives taking on Skipton's Gavin Stocker and George Grant.
There is also a new event this year - the Handicap foursomes, which involves players from Division Two, with the winners of regional Section A facing Section B.
Ghyll’s Andy Gibb and Jonathan Schoefield, who won Section B, take on Section A winners Phil Nutter and Lewis Walls from South Bradford.
Bradford Union competition secretary David Peat believes that the new handicap event shows that they promote inclusion from all levels within the sport.
He said: “We’re trying the handicap event this year so that we can help mix those golfers with the elite of our union because these events shouldn’t only include our top golfers.
“We’ve got to give everyone a chance, like we do with all the clubs. We decided on Baildon this year very early on and it should be a really good day for everyone.”
