Domestic knockout action took centre stage in the Bradford Sunday Alliance League and one of the shocks of the day saw Victoria Rangers see off Peel Park in the GOALS Soccer Senior Cup.

Damien Rushworth netted four times as Division One hosts Rangers won 5-2 against their Premier opponents, with Jonathan Hicks also scoring on his debut.

Another Division One versus Premier tie went the way of the underdogs as well, with Lane Ends seeing off George Hotel.

Lane Ends made home advantage count too as they won 2-1 thanks to goals by James O’Brien and Leigh Binns.

Defending champions West Bowling, who currently lead the Premier table, were comfortable 4-1 winners at home to Thornbury Celtic of Division One.

The top-flight hosts were 3-0 up before the interval as Phil Brogan completed a ‘perfect’ hat-trick of right foot, left foot and a header.

The visitors hit back through Robert Macdonald but Mick Walton, who has been a Bowling player for six years, settled matters with his first-ever goal for the club.

Buttershaw White Star, champions in two of the last four years, eased through to the second round 3-0 at the expense Mill Lane in an all-Premier tie.

Steve Hollingworth netted twice and Gareth Carney completed the tally, while keeper Mark Bowers was also outstanding as Mill Lane put the home side under pressure in the second half.

Another Premier Division showdown was won 6-2 by Sandy Lane against Wyke Wanderers, with Josh Hans’ double proving in vain.

Promoted Division 2A side Sporting Pudsey caused an upset as they edged out 1A opponents Wyke Rangers 4-3 in the GOALS Soccer Intermediate Cup.

Pudsey started on the back foot as they fell behind inside the opening two minutes but were soon level as Alex McNichol cut inside to score.

Skipper Adam Shaw could have put them in front when his shot clipped the post but the hosts did move in front just before half-time through Jamie McGougan.

Farris Emara and McGougan, with his second goal, then added headers to effectively kill off the tie, although Wyke hit back to create a few nervous moments.

Division 1 B side Alexander crushed Unity of 1A 7-1, with Craig Ricketts hitting a hat-trick and Jamie Kitchen adding a brace for the triumphant home team.

Cuedos Rangers Reserves of Division 1A progressed 4-2 at 2A strugglers Turf and will next be at home to 1B leaders Swaine Green, who crushed early 1A pacesetters Towngate 7-1.

Second West of 2B took Delius, who are bottom of 1A, to extra time before the higher-ranked visitors won by the odd goal in seven.

Match of the day in the GOALS Soccer Amateur Cup went the way of Eccleshill WMC 7-2 against Great Horton after the Division 3A rivals had shared four first-half goals.

A Matty Hargreaves effort cancelled out an early Great Horton goal and Josh Jalali then made it 2-1, only for the sides to reach the interval level.

But it was one-way traffic after the break as Jalali completed a hat-trick of headers, Hargreaves making it a double and Vinny Walker also on target.

Woodman Rovers were also convincing winners as they beat Grass Greener United A 5-0 in an all-Division 3B clash.

Liam Exley (2), Ashley Smith, Kieran Barnes and Tom Jeffs supplied the firepower.
