Guiseley's Brackley jinx strikes again

Guiseley 0 Brackley 2
Guiseley’s poor start to the Skrill North season continued, with this latest defeat dropping them out of the top ten, while Brackley climb to second in the early table.
Brackley did the league double over Steve Kittrick’s side last term and they got to work early at Nethermoor once again, Izak Reid stabbing home from a 13th-minute corner.
Guiseley almost responded five minutes later when a sumptuous through ball down the middle picked out Adam Priestley but his shot was palmed for a corner by keeper Billy Turley.
Things began to go wrong for the home side soon after. Danny Ellis was forced off with a knee injury – replaced by Mark Bower – and Priestley picked up a yellow card for a late challenge on Brett Solkhon.
Brackley then doubled their lead in the 33rd minute. A corner was whipped in from the left, Eddie Nisevic headed it down and home keeper Steve Drench was caught in two minds, wondering if he should get his body behind it or hack it clear. He did neither and the ball crept under his foot and into the goal.
The Lions dominated the second half, forcing numerous corners, and Priestley, Gavin Rothery and skipper Andy Holdsworth all went close.
However, the visitors defended well and Guiseley could not force their way back into the game.
One strike may have changed the tide and given the Lions the confidence boost they needed but Town were far too solid at the back to give them a scent of goal.
