Bradford Mutual Sunday School League Group A leaders Salem Athletic’s advantage was cut to 12 points after they drew and second-placed Bradford Gymkhana won.

Salem scored 252-9 at Omars, Mohammed Bilal making 43 and Nawazish Khan 46, while Adnan Raja claimed 4-45. The hosts replied with 188-7 and were indebted to Chetan Patel (83no) and Shabir Hussain (36no), who shared an unbroken 138-run partnership for the eighth wicket.

Bilal completed a fine all-round display for Salem by taking 5-32.

Bradford Gymkhana defeated Girlington by 35 runs. Fayaz Khan scored 49 in their 192-9, while Asim Qadir was Girlington’s top scorer with 42 in their 157 all out.

Great Horton Church are up to third after they leapfrogged Bradford Moor, against whom they gained a winning draw.

Seventeen-year-old Saim Butt, who was making his first-team debut for Church, scored 116 not out in their 293-8 (Amir Majid 4-70) before Bradford Moor replied with 228-8.

Interlink gained a much needed win against Cambing. Asif Sheikh scored 58 not out as Interlink passed the Cambing total of 195 with six wickets down. Cambing’s Asif Gul hit 71.

Sohail Butt of Heaton scored 108 and Abdul Ishfaq 56 in their 287-6. Hallfield replied with 64 all out, Zishan Khalid taking 4 for 13.

Group B leaders Girlington defeated Cross Roads & Daisy hill by 107 runs after Shahid Saleem returned the best bowling figures of the season with 9-20 as Daisy were all out for 128. Earlier, Gary Hopkins had taken a hat-trick in his 5-28 as Girlington were dismissed for 241. Top scorers were Khalid Mahmood (69) and Mohammed Saghir (54).

Yorkshire LPS kept up the pressure on the leaders, who they meet on the last day of the season, with their win over Bowling Baptist. Bowling made 163 all out with Akhtar Mahmood making 67. LPS passed the score for the loss of six wickets, Vivek Jayakumar scoring 80 not out.

Salem defeated Apperley Bridge by 50 runs. Mohammed Yasir took 5 for 32 for Apperley as Salem were all out for 149, then Abdus Samad took 5 for 13 as Apperley were all out for 99.

Allerton defeated Bradford Gymkhana by four wickets after Zubair Patel took 4 for 11 to dismiss them for 65 and Greenfield gained a five-wicket win over Mayfield. Top scorers were Mohammed Faisal (47) for Mayfield and Mahazar Iqbal (58) for Greenfield.

In Group C the title is within touching distance of VVS Laxman but they only just avoided defeat at Mandhata with only six runs between the teams at the end of play.

Mahesh Patel made 78 not out in Laxmans 255 for 6, Mandhata replied with 249 for 9, Pritesh Patel scoring 73 and Hiren Morker 61.

Second-placed Great Horton Church were beaten at home by Cambing. Umear Aslam took 5 for 23 as Cambing were all out for 130, but Church were all out for 90 in reply.

Tightest match of the day was at Great Horton Meths where 432 runs were scored and the match ended in a tie. Anthony Moss scored 75 in Meths’ 216 all out. Haroon Rashid then scored 85 as Hallfield also made 216 all out.

West Bowling declared on 202 for 2 against Bradford Indians and then bowled them out for 106. There were two big partnerships for West Bowling, 107 for the first wicket between Joe A’Hearne and Chris Carter (75), and 95 for the second wicket between brothers Chris and Dominic Carter, Dominic making 55 not out.

In Group D both the top two clubs won again. Muff Field A scored 210 all out against Mayfield, principal scorers being Paul Leach (62) and Frank Powell (43). Frank then took 6 for 14 as Mayfield were all out for 30.

Yorkshire LPS dismissed Muff Field B for 39, Viral Patel taking 5 for 14, and then knocked off the runs for the loss of one wicket.

YMCA defeated Buttershaw St Pauls by two wickets after dismissing them for 76.
