Catch details for the week ending August 25 – Day ticket: Fewston 35, Swinsty nine, Thruscross (catch and return) two. Total fish caught: Fewston 215, Swinsty 54, Thruscross five. Average per rod: Fewston 6.1, Swinsty 6.0, Thruscross 2.5. The heaviest fish caught was a 5lb 4oz brown trout by Fred Wallace using size 14 invictor. Fewston: Trout breaking surface to feed on the abundant fly life, taking daddy longlegs, hoppers and sedge. Heavy lures taking fish in the midday sun. Swinsty: Spinners taking perch and worm catching trout. Thruscross: Wild brown trout taking fly from top of the water, daddys and heather fly just showing.

Some sections of the River Calder will be closed on Sunday for Calder League round four. Cowthorpe on the River Nidd is producing good nets of chub, barbel and dace on float. Willow Hall is fishing well for perch, roach and small carp on maggot or worm. Members are reminded that any propositions for this year’s annual meeting must be with the secretary by September 9.
The draw for Saturday’s open match at Rodley is at 9am by the bridge. For Sunday’s members’ match at Pilley’s the gate will be open at 8.30am with the draw at 8.45am. A reminder that all litter must be removed from the bankside after a day’s fishing.

Sunday’s match is on the River Wharfe at Boson Spa, draw 9am in the car park. The canal is still producing good nets of small fish at Crossflatts, and bigger bream below the Three Rise Locks.
