Bradford Bulls an attractive proposition for players, says Francis Cummins
Francis Cummins says players are keen to join the Bulls as he bids to bolster his squad further.
The head coach has already recruited Warrington prop Garreth Carvell and Huddersfield duo Luke George and Dale Ferguson, along with the permanent signing of Matty Blythe on a three-year deal.
Cummins is continuing to work hard behind the scenes to bring in more new faces and it is believed that another signing could be announced this week.
When speaking to potential new recruits, Cummins has generally been met with a very positive response.
“I’ve been very pleased with the quality we’ve been able to bring in,” he said.
“But there a lot of quality players wanting to come here because they’re hearing about what we’re doing, how we treat players and what we’re able to give them.
“The word in the game has been really good. There are times where I just can’t afford players and I just can’t get the numbers right. But I’ve had no trouble convincing players that this is the place to come, so that’s really pleasing.”
But Cummins has not entirely ruled out the prospect of the duo agreeing new deals to remain at the club next season.
He added: “Is there room under the cap for them next year? Yes, if I think they’re worth a certain amount of money and they accept it then there is.
“That’s the way it is and that’s the way we’ve had to do it. The club’s probably overpaid to certain players in recent years and I don’t mean to those two specifically but in general.
“I’ll pay the players what they’re worth and if they don’t accept that then they’ll go somewhere else. We need to make sure that it’s fair.
“Jamie’s been here a long time and has been an important part of the club and he’s done a lot for it as well.
“There’s all kinds of things that make you good value to the club and Jamie Langley’s done it over a lot of seasons and that’s certainly part of his worth.
“But like I’ve said before, we’ve got to do what’s best for the club.”
