Pudsey Congs steal a march on Dales Council league title rivals
Following the heavy overnight rain, the Dales Council League fixture programme was severely depleted on Saturday, particularly in Division A, where only one game managed to survive.
Leaders Pudsey Congs (100-4) stole a march on their rivals after defeating hosts Baildon (96) by four wickets, Adam Patrick returning 6-37 to send Congs 17 points clear with just three sets of fixtures left in the season.
Meanwhile, there was slightly more activity in Division B, where all three major protagonists featured.
Leaders Tong Park Esholt were thankful for Jai Aujla, who hit an unbeaten 83 in his side's 222-5 in response to local rivals Baildon, who had earlier made a useful 221-9.
Hepworth & Idle B‘s (104) recent run of success came to an end at second-in-the-table Pudsey St Lawrence, who knocked off the target for the loss of four wickets, with Danny Dobson hitting 57 for the Saints.
In the Inter-Divisional fixture, Division B basement side Crompark (131-7, Phil Cooper 66, Zair Shah 4-24) registered their second win of the campaign, recording a three-wicket success over Division C side Drighlington-Whitehall (130, Zair Shah 41, Mark Cooper 5-20).
Pudsey Congs B, long-time leaders of Division C, finally claimed the championship following a rain- affected draw at home to Cookridge C, who were 66-8 when the heavens opened.
A depleted Wibsey Park Chapel were shot out for just 46 in their home game against a less-depleted Baildon C, who romped to an eight-wicket win.
