New signing Scott Wootton may have to settle for warming the bench
New signing Scott Wootton goes straight into the squad as Leeds bid to continue their unbeaten start to the Sky Bet Championship season at Ipswich on Saturday.
The 21-year-old defender trained with the club for the first time today after joining on a three-year deal from Manchester United.
Wootton is likely to be on the bench at Portman Road, with Brian McDermott keeping faith with the centre-back pairing of Jason Pearce and Tom Lees.
McDermott may recall Noel Hunt up front in place of teenager Dominic Poleon at a ground where Leeds have not won since 2001.
The Leeds boss said: “I’ve got five strikers and I want them to be a team within a team.
“I want them to support each other.
“Noel didn’t play (against Sheffield Wednesday) but he’s one of the best team members and team players I’ve worked with in my life.”
Midfielder Luke Murphy is confident that Leeds can maintain their run of form against the Tractor Boys.
He said: “The main thing is to get into the habit of not losing. We’ll be hoping to do that again against Ipswich.
“If we can get a win there, we can put ourselves in the mix at the top of the table.”
