Bumble Bees buzzing at Castleford
Bingley-based Bumbles Bees Barbarians travelled to Castleford RUFC to give a practical display of Rugby For All.
A packed clubhouse was entralled by a presentation from the Bumbles about the benefits of adopting an inclusive club membership and afterwards there was a match between the Bumbles’ mixed ability team and a Castleford Select side.
The day was about kick-starting Castleford’s Creating Connections Inclusive Sport Fund project, which aims to increase the number of disabled people over the age of 14 taking part in regular sporting activity.
Creating Connections are one of only five clubs in the Wakefield area to achieve the Champion Club designation in recognition of the steps taken to become an inclusive sports club.
Mark Goodwin, of the Bumbles, said: “We really enjoyed the whole day and our lads gave a great demonstration of how to promote Rugby For All.
“We are looking forward to the return fixture, which looks like being in December.”
