Keighley RZM win thrilling Solly Sports Cup final
Keighley RZM, who won a thrilling the Quaid-e-Azam League's Solly Sports Cup final by one wicket over Lahore
Keighley continued to change their bowling attack, alternating between pace and spin, but it was medium pacer Yasar Ali who polished off the tail by taking the last four wicket for 17 runs in four overs as Lahore were all out for what was thought to be a below-par 153.
Keighley lost Tinashe Gomwe for two in the seventh over as Lahore’s opening pair of Khaliq and Adeel Ashraf helped to reduce them to 52-4 after 22 overs as panic seemed to set in, the duo only conceding 26 in 14 overs.
By now the run rate had climbed to 5.75 per over but Ahmed kept Keighley in the hunt with two boundaries in the 43rd over.
Things seemed to be going Keighley's way, however, until the final over by Khaliq.
Ahmed took a single off the first ball but Mahir Ali was bowled by an off-break the next ball.
Wasim Qasim missed the third ball and was bowled fourth ball, leaving Lahore now only needing one wicket and Keighley three runs with two balls remaining.
Khaliq noticed that last man Nassar Jamal was charging down the wicket so slipped the ball down the leg-side, hoping for a stumping.
However, the wicket-keeper missed the ball and Keighley ran three to notch their third cup victory.
