Run king Farhan Saeed in 100 club for fifth time this season
On a day where the rain generally brought proceedings to a premature halt, there were still some outstanding individual performances and a possible Division A title game-changer in the Dales Council League.
Top displays occurred at Rounday Park, where the league’s top scorer, Farhan Saeed (109), passed the century mark for an incredible fifth time, taking his season’s total to 975 runs.
Not to be outdone, team-mate Safiullah Khan hit an unbeaten 110 – his third century of the campaign – as New Wortley racked up an impressive 275-2 declared.
In reply, Adel had reached 36-0 before the rain arrived.
Leaders Pudsey Congs (99-6, Mohammed Zulfikar 57no) were in an intriguing position at Saville Stars (127, Stephen Bedford 5-36) when weather put paid to proceedings.
Second-placed Halifax Direct (148-6, Mohammed Chand 77no) recorded their eighth successive win when achieving a four-wicket success over Crompark (147, Mohammed Iqbal 6-33).
By doing so they reduced the gap at the top to a mere two points and look a real danger to one-time runaway leaders Congs.
The only other game to beat the weather featured Baildon (100), who for the second successive week went down to the narrowest of defeats, this time coming up short by two runs at Cookridge (102).
The Division B schedule was severely affected by the wet weather that appeared at the tea interval, with not one outright result to be found.
However, before the heavens opened, Cookridge B (284-7, Zaheer Ahmed 88, Mounam Ejaz 54) hit the top score of the day at Crompark B (4-0).
Division C leaders Pudsey Congs (42-2) looked in a promising position at home to bottom-of-the-table Wibsey Park Chapel (102, Zahid Mahmood 5-4) when rain stopped play.
Second-placed Shipley Providence (228-8 dec, Asar Naqvi 64, Hasnain 61) beat the weather and also local rivals Baildon C, who were tumbled out for just 63 in reply (Basherat Mehmood 5-25).
