Promotion is the aim for buoyant Farsley
Farsley’s season begins in earnest on Saturday when they journey over the Pennines to take on Clitheroe in Evo-Stik Division One North.
Neil Parsley is happy with what he has seen from his squad in pre-season and the players will be buoyed by their last friendly result as Farsley beat Conference North neighbours Guiseley 1-0 last Saturday.
Following that game, Parsley said: “I think all the new signings have settled in now and the overall work-rate has been very good.
“It was good to get a win against Guiseley, although I would swap that for three points from our first league game.
"We defended well but attacked with purpose and I think we earned that result which will set us in good stead.
“I feel we have improved the squad with the changes we have made over the summer and we will be looking to press on and go for promotion.
"I would like a bit more cover defensively, and will be looking to add another signing, but I’m quite happy to go into the season with what we have.”
Farsley lost at the Lancashire outfit in last term’s away league fixture but they beat Clitheroe twice over the campaign.
Parsley’s men banked the points from the reverse league game and knocked their roses rivals out of the league cup.
Eccleshill United are also in league action on Saturday when they face Clipstone in Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One.
Lee Duxbury had a disappointing start to his role as the Eagles’ boss as they lost their opening home game 3-2 to Grimsby Borough but the former Bantams’ midfielder was soon overseeing a victory.
Eccleshill won 1-0 at Selby Town in midweek to kick-start their campaign but Clipstone will provide a stern test as they are looking to maintain their perfect start after taking a maximum six points.
