Leaders Westwood Park go to third-placed Wakefield St Michael's A in their next game, hoping to continue their push for promotion from Division Three of the Solly Sports Central Yorkshire League.

The Horton Bank Top-based club, formerly playing as the old Westwood Hospital in the Mutual Sunday School League, have struggled to make an impact since their elevation to the Central Yorkshire League but things are definitely looking up this summer.

A convincing 76-run win over Caribbean A left them seven points clear of their nearest rivals, Rodley, and 17 ahead of St Michaels. A six-point win should make promotion a formality for the Bradford side.

In a remarkable innings, only Zaheer Shah (93) and Sajid Khan (96) made double figures but their 182-run stand for the fifth wicket broke the back of the Caribbean attack, leaving Khan (6-24) and Michael Kidd (3-58) to wrap up the win.

Buttershaw St Paul's are struggling to find consistency in Division One, and their latest setback - a seven-wicket defeat at home to East Ardsley - leaves them languishing in eighth place.

Charlie Cowell (4-28) did much of the damage for the visitors, while Pritesh Mistry (21), batting at nine, rescued Buttershaw from a humiliating 13-7 to help them close on 52 - but it merely postponed the inevitable.

Liversedge lost ground in their promotion push from Division One when, despite Paul Marlow's fine 86 in their 214-9, they went down by four wickets at Wakefield Thornes A.

Leaders Hopton Mills hammered 308-8 at home to East Leeds, Ashley Mackereth (105) completing a well-earned century, while young Tahmidul Islam (4-37) helped dismiss the mvisitors for 135.

Hopton hold a one-point lead over Scholes, 34-run winners at Wakefield St Michaels, and Liversedge are now seven off the top.

At the other end of the table, newly-promoted Mirfield pulled off their second win of the season when, defending a modest total of 137, they bowled out Ossett A for just 85 at the Memorial Ground and kept alive their hopes of avoiding an early return to Division Two.

In the Premier Division, Birstall overcame reigning champions Wrenthorpe, a shadow of the side that took the title, when they secured a superb win at Leeds Road.

It was Wrenthorpe old boy Eric Austin who proved the thorn in their side with a dogged, unbeaten 76 in 139 minutes as the home side chased down 220-5 to win by two wickets.
