Bradford teenager Tommy Hawthorn has been selected to represent Great Britain at a prestigious senior international tournament in Athens this weekend.

Competitors from around the world will gather at Olympia in Greece, the birthplace of the Olympic movement, for an event which aims to highlight the Save Olympic Wrestling campaign.

Hawthorn’s selection is significant as he is just 17 and does not become a senior until the age of 21.

His father and coach Jimmy, himself a two-time world bronze medallist, said: “It is a fantastic opportunity to compete against the world’s best in this very important tournament.”
